Goldston's History
Goldston’s Beach has been the backdrop for countless family memories and adventures for a century. It all began in 1921 when H.P. Goldston purchased property along the pristine shores of White Lake. With its beginnings in amusements and entertainment, Goldston’s Beach quickly expanded to offer overnight accommodations, becoming one of eastern North Carolina’s most sought-after family vacation destinations.
In the early 1930’s two young brothers, Harry and Jack Womble, made their way from Goldston, NC to work in their uncle’s business. They endured WWII and a devastating fire, yet they expanded their operations. When H.P. Goldston passed away in the
50’s, Harry and Jack took over as owners and managers. The family transition continued through the ‘70’s as Harry and his wife Johnnie ran the thriving business along with the help of their four children; Donna, Goldston, John and Mollie. By the ‘80’s, John Womble and his wife, Jill, led the business with Harry until his retirement in 2014. At 92, Harry Womble had spent more than 80 years creating smiles and memories at his beloved Goldston’s Beach. This family-owned business has now spanned four generations as his grandson, Jake Womble, follows in the footsteps of his forefathers to lead Goldston’s Beach into the future.
Each year families return to this picturesque setting with their children and grandchildren to swim in the same crystal clear waters and make memories that last a lifetime. Just like Harry did so many years before.
